MUMBAI, India, Sept. 22 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202621086646 A) filed by Vishwakarma University on July 15, 2026, for A Wearable Knee Mobility Assessment System.

Inventors include Shriyal, Swati Shivkumar; and Ainapure, Bharati Sanjay.

The application for the patent was published on September 18, 2026, under issue no. 38/2026.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a wearable knee mobility assessment system comprising a sensor-integrated elastic and breathable knee belt embedded with inertial measurement units, including a 3-axis accelerometer, a 3-axis gyroscope, an IMU fusion module, an ESP32 microcontroller, a Wi-Fi communication module, and a rechargeable battery with a power regulation circuit. The sensors continuously capture knee joint motion data, including angular velocity, linear acceleration, flexion- extension angles, and gait cycle characteristics, during activities such as walking and stair climbing, and wirelessly transmit the data to a processing unit. A hybrid parallel grouped neural network performs signal preprocessing, feature extraction, and classification to identify knee health conditions. A Generative AI module generates personalized physiotherapy routines, rehabilitation plans, recovery timelines, safety instructions, and corrective movement guidance, displayed through a mobile or web interface, forming a closed-loop diagnostic and therapeutic system applicable in orthopaedic clinics, sports rehabilitation, elderly mobility monitoring, post-surgical rehabilitation, and home-based healthcare.
