Abstract: TITLE: A WEARABLE DISTRESS SIGNALING SYSTEM FOR SUICIDE PREVENTION APPLICANT: 1. MEENAKSHI ACADEMY OF HIGHER EDUCATION AND RESEARCH 2. MEENAKSHI COLLEGE OF NURSING ABSTRACT The present invention discloses a wearable distress signaling system configured for suicide prevention and mental health crisis intervention through discreet, non-verbal, tap-based communication of psychological distress. The system comprises a wearable housing, a tap detection sensor, a microcontroller incorporating a distress classification module, a wireless communication unit, an alert management system, a feedback mechanism, and a rechargeable battery. The tap detection sensor detects predefined tap sequences, and the microcontroller processes the number, timing, and sequence of the detected taps to classify psychological distress into corresponding severity levels. The alert management system generates and routes a corresponding alert message, which is transmitted in real time to designated caregivers, healthcare professionals, family members, or crisis intervention teams through the wireless communication unit. The feedback mechanism provides confirmation of successful alert transmission. The invention enables rapid, discreet, and reliable distress communication, thereby facilitating timely emergency response during mental health emergencies.
