MUMBAI, India, June 19 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202441094575 A) filed by K. Ramakrishnan College Of Engineering on December 02, 2024, for A Water Drop Musical Device.
Inventors include Jeffry C; and Dr. R. Manivasagam.
The application for the patent was published on June 05, 2026, under issue no. 23/2026.
Abstract: ABSTARCT A WATER DROP MUSICAL DEVICE The present invention discloses a water drop musical device designed to create rhythmic sounds through water droplets interacting with steel drums. The device includes a primary reservoir (9) and a secondary reservoir (5) located at the top section (1). A submersible pump (8) transfers water from the primary reservoir (9) to the secondary reservoir (5) through a conduit (11). The system features a top section (1), middle section (2), and bottom section (3), which collectively house the components of the device. The seven steel drums (12) and solenoid valves (15) are controlled by a control system housed in an electronics bay (4). The control system regulates the rhythmic release of water droplets from the solenoid valves, which strike the steel drums to produce various rhythmic sounds. Excess water drips through a leak-through mesh (16) and is returned to the primary reservoir for reuse. A structural frame, supported by hollow support columns (6) and tempered glass (7), enhances stability and aesthetics. The device also includes a refill port (13) for adding water, indicators (14) to display water levels, and a drain outlet (10) at the base of the primary reservoir for easy drainage when not in use. This device is suitable for use in artistic installations, therapeutic environments, and experimental music compositions, offering an organic and meditative sound experience.
