MUMBAI, India, July 7 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202631073667 A) filed by National Institute Of Technology Jamshedpur on June 13, 2026, for A Vision-Guided Serial Manipulator System And Method For Automated Pick-And-Place Operation.

Inventors include Ankita Prasad; Arpit Kumar; Vijay Kumar Dalla; and Suraj Kumar Mukti.

The application for the patent was published on July 03, 2026, under issue no. 27/2026.

Abstract: The present disclosure relates to a vision-guided serial manipulator system and method for automated pick-and-place operation. The system comprises an articulated robotic arm having a plurality of joints and a gripper, an image acquisition arrangement configured to capture an image of a workspace, a processing arrangement configured to detect an object in the image, a coordinate transformation module configured to convert image coordinates of the object into workspace coordinates, a kinematics module configured to determine joint parameters of the articulated robotic arm, and a control subsystem configured to actuate the articulated robotic arm to pick the object from a first location and place the object at a second location. In an embodiment, the image acquisition arrangement comprises a smartphone camera in an eye-to-hand configuration, and the control subsystem comprises a computing device, a microcontroller, and a servo driver for actuating a plurality of servo motors. The disclosed arrangement provides a low-cost and integrated architecture for robotic pick-and- place operation in educational, research, and low-scale automation environments. FIG 01.
