Abstract: ABSTRACT “A VEHICLE-INTEGRATED EPILEPTIC SEIZURE SAFEGUARD SYSTEM AND METHOD THEREOF" A vehicle-integrated epileptic seizure safeguard system detects prodromal and early ictal states in drivers through multi-modal sensing. A continuously-contacted steering-wheel smart sensor module (116), incorporating a capacitive multi-zone grip array positioned in predominant palm-contact zones, embedded inertial measurement unit, and dry-contact ECG/PPG electrodes, captures epilepsy-specific motor semiology (loss of fine steering micro-corrections, tonic stiff grip patterns, micro-tremors) and autonomic indicators (heart- rate variability disruption) without any wearable device. Facial (101) and upper-body (103) camera modules, together with pedal/gear micro-motion sensors (117), provide complementary semiology data. A dedicated DMS-Seizure electronic control unit (104) performs edge-processed fusion to compute a driver-adaptive Seizure Onset Probability Score (SOPS) using three-band temporal-stability threshold logic with mandatory confirmation gating. Real-time seizure-risk awareness indicators (120) are presented on the vehicle display at the suspicion band to enable driver self-correction. On confirmation, the system commands a controlled deceleration corridor with lane stability via CAN-FD interfaces (107–112), forces Emergency Map Mode override via navigation ECU (112), and transmits a structured telematics alert indicating “suspected epileptic seizure – driver unresponsive” with GNSS coordinates via cellular telematics module (114).
