Abstract: The present invention relates to a system and method for operating a vehicle (100) using biometric authentication for secure access. The system detects ambient light levels and selects an appropriate biometric authentication method through one or more biometric units (102) in the vehicle. The system captures biometric data and validates the authorized user for vehicle operation. If authentication fails, the system initiates a limp home mode and sends alert notifications to one or more devices (116) to notify the user. Additionally, the system sends a secondary authorization request to the personal device (124) of the user. Upon receiving approval, the system enables vehicle operation, if declined, operation is disallowed.
