Abstract: The present invention relates to a universal method for calibration and qualification of particle size analyser instruments using commercially available packaged pasteurized dairy milk as a natural colloidal calibration standard. The method employs pasteurized, homogenized, skimmed, standardized, toned, double toned, full cream or lactose-free dairy milk without chemical modification. A predetermined volume of the milk sample is introduced into the particle size analyser, and the measured particle size distribution is compared with a predefined reference range to verify instrument accuracy, precision and operational performance. Experimental evaluation demonstrated reproducible particle size distributions ranging from approximately 262.6 nm to 360.5 nm, confirming the suitability of packaged dairy milk as a reliable calibration material. The invention provides a simple, economical, readily available, environmentally friendly and reproducible alternative to conventional synthetic calibration standards. The disclosed method is applicable in pharmaceutical, biotechnology, nanotechnology, food, cosmetic, quality control and research laboratories for routine instrument calibration and performance verification.
