Abstract: The present invention is in the field of cleaning compositions. It relates to a tablet composition providing a liquid cleaning composition on dissolution in water. There is a need for an improved tablet containing significantly high amount of detersive active for providing enhanced cleaning benefit, wherein the tablet is hard, yet dissolves fast in contact with water. The present invention provides a tablet comprising an anionic surfactant and a non-ionic surfactant in a select ratio along with select water- soluble disintegrants, that disintegrants quickly in contact with water thereby providing a liquid cleaning composition. The liquid cleaning composition provides enhanced cleaning benefit. The present invention further provides a process for obtaining a hard surface cleaning composition and a method for cleaning a surface.
