Abstract: ABSTRACT The present invention relates to a unified OCR-based intelligent system (100) for automated evaluation of typed and handwritten descriptive answer scripts. The system comprises an input acquisition module (102) configured to receive answer scripts, question papers, model answers, and evaluation parameters; a text extraction module (104) configured to extract textual content using document parsing and optical character recognition (OCR); a text preprocessing module (106); a question segmentation module (108); a feature extraction module (110) configured to determine semantic similarity, contextual relevance, and answer completeness; an OCR-Aware Scoring (112) configured to generate adaptive evaluation scores based on extracted features and OCR confidence; an evaluation validation module (114) configured to verify scoring reliability; and an output and reporting module (116) configured to generate question-wise scores, overall marks, and evaluation reports. The integrated architecture enables accurate, scalable, and reliable automated assessment while reducing manual effort and OCR-induced evaluation errors.
