Abstract: The present invention relates to a tray assembly (100) for a vehicle interior. The tray assembly (100) has a tray unit (10). The tray unit (10) is connected to a support structure (20). The tray unit (10) is rotatable between a first position (10a) and a second position (10b). A securing mechanism (30) is configured to releasably secure the tray unit (10) in the first position (10a) to sustain a load up to a predetermined threshold load. The securing mechanism (30) is configured to detach the tray unit (10) when the load exceeds the predetermined threshold, enabling the tray unit (10) to move downwards towards the second position (10b). The tray unit (10) moves upward to re-attach with the support structure (20) when the load is below the predetermined threshold load
