Abstract: The system (100) includes a The present invention relates to a Transformer-based web application firewall system and method for intelligent threat detection comprising a web traffic receiving unit (102), a request preprocessing unit (104). The web traffic receiving unit (102) receives incoming HTTP/HTTPS web application traffic, while the request preprocessing unit (104) normalizes and prepares the received traffic for analysis. The tokenization and encoding unit (106) converts the processed request data into tokens and encoded representations, and the Transformer-based feature extraction unit (108) processes the encoded representations using attention-based processing to generate contextual feature representations. The threat classification unit (110) classifies the received traffic as legitimate or potentially malicious, and the threat scoring unit (112) determines a corresponding threat score and/or confidence value. The decision and policy enforcement unit (114) determines an enforcement action comprising allowing, blocking, rejecting, challenging or monitoring the request. The invention enhances intelligent threat detection through contextual analysis of web application traffic. The invention facilitates automated security enforcement and reduces dependence on exclusively static, signature-based detection mechanisms.
