MUMBAI, India, Aug. 10 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202411103525 A) filed by Schneider Electric India Private Limited on December 27, 2024, for A Torque Limiting Mechanism For Circuit Breakers In The Withdrawable Systems.

Inventors include Gupta, Shashank Rajesh; and Nagarjun, Kapu.

The application for the patent was published on July 31, 2026, under issue no. 31/2026.

Abstract: A torque limiting mechanism for a withdrawable circuit breaker system is disclosed. The system includes a cradle (4a) with side plates (1a, 1b), cross pieces (2a, 2b), and rail assemblies (3a, 3b) for guiding a circuit breaker (4) into the cradle (4a). A racking screw rod (7) with a front end (7a) and a rear end (7b) is mounted on a racking support bracket (8) by a bearing support (9) and connected to a rack (11). A racking handle (10) rotates the racking screw rod (7). The mechanism features clutch cams (12) mounted on the racking screw rod (7), with one cam rigidly mounted on the rear end (7b) and another cam mounted on the front end (7a) to slide and rotate. A clutch spring (13) between the racking support bracket (8) and the front clutch cam (12) pushes the cams against each other, limiting torque transfer when the applied torque exceeds a pre-set limit.
