MUMBAI, India, Sept. 28 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202621095969 A) filed by Manish Jagdish Thatte on August 08, 2026, for A Three-Dimensional Balanced-Ternary Carbon-Nanotube Array With Dual-Function Vertical Interconnects Serving As Combined Addressing And Thermal-Conduction Paths, And A Transistor-Free Optical Photonic- Cavity Addressing Method Therefor.

Inventor includes Manish Jagdish Thatte.

The application for the patent was published on September 25, 2026, under issue no. 39/2026.

Abstract: A three-dimensional array of balanced-ternary computing devices (the Thatte array), each device being a coaxial carbon-nanotube balanced-ternary computing device (the Thatte device) producing a signed-current trit from {+1, 0, -1}, arranged at the intersections of a matrix of horizontal signal lines and vertical carbon-nanotube interconnects serving as dual-function thermal-conduction and addressing paths (the Thatte thermal vias). Each Thatte thermal via forms part of the spatial addressing structure of the Thatte array and simultaneously conducts phonon heat flux from the interior of the Thatte array to a heat sink, so that no area is expended on dedicated thermal vias. An individual Thatte device is addressed without a per-device access transistor by a combination of spatial position (coarse addressing), and -- in the preferred optical embodiment -- frequency-selective photonic coupling to the Thatte device's photonic cavity (the Thatte cavity) for fine addressing, with the trit value encoded in the phase or presence of the addressing photon. Because no galvanic conductor connects any Thatte device to the addressing bus in the optical embodiment, the ballistic dark-state conductance G_DARK plays no role in Thatte cavity coupling, and electrical sneak paths are eliminated by construction. Isolation of unselected Thatte devices is provided by the absence of a galvanic conducting path (primary) and by Lorentzian frequency-rejection of off-resonance Thatte cavities (secondary); the readout path achieves a squared-Lorentzian signal-to-crosstalk ratio S/C_rt = 4715x (36.7 dB) at k_guard = 10, M = 5, pitch = 200 nm, and trit-state homodyne SNR = 54.7 dB at k_guard = 20, exceeding the 44.5 dB Thatte1 contactless-optical device benchmark (simulation-supported, 13 July 2026). The Thatte devices may be nominally identical, addressed by drive-set frequency and spatial position without per-device physical differentiation. The signed-current trit symmetry is protected in the linear two-terminal regime by Onsager-Casimir reciprocity against a broad class of fabrication-induced disorders.
