Abstract: ABSTRACT A THERMAL MANAGEMENT SYSTEM FOR AN ELECTRIC VEHICLE The present invention discloses a thermal management system (300) for an electric vehicle. The system (300) includes a refrigerant loop (302) and a coolant loop (304) coupled via a chiller (312). The coolant loop (304) includes a coolant pump (314), an air chiller (316), a thermal load (318), and circulates a coolant. The coolant loop (304) is divided downstream of the chiller (312) into a first branch (320) and a second branch (322) in a parallel arrangement. The air chiller (316) is disposed in the first branch (320), and the thermal load (318) is disposed in the second branch (322). The first branch includes a first flow-control valve (326) upstream of the air chiller (316) and a second flow-control valve (328) downstream of the air chiller (316), and are jointly operable to isolate and retain the coolant within the air chiller (316) to provide residual cooling.
