Abstract: A system 100 to operate a tail gate 102 of a vehicle includes a pair of hinges 104 fixed to vehicle body and having slider legs 104-B that slidingly engage with a pair of guide rails 108 fixed to the tail gate 102. At least one actuation mechanism 150 having an actuator 154 and a bell crank 156, to push or pull the tail gate 102. Pushing of the tail gate 102 results in a combination of an outward and an upward movement of the tail gate 102 from a closed position to an open position and sliding the tail gate 102 relative to the slider legs 104-B over a roof 110 of the vehicle.
