Abstract: The present disclosure relates to an automotive transmission control system (100) for a vehicle. The automotive transmission control system (100) comprises a mechanical disengaging system (102) configured to selectively disengage a mechanical linkage between a drive shaft (108) and a differential shaft (110) of a vehicle drivetrain. An actuator (104) is operatively coupled to the mechanical 10 disengaging system (102) and configured to activate the mechanical disengaging system (102). An electronic control unit (E.C.U.) (106) is configured to: receive one or more signals indicative of the operating conditions of a vehicle, process the signals to determine a control action, and transmit a control signal to the actuator (104) to activate the mechanical disengaging system (102). Activation of the 15 mechanical disengaging system (102) reduces friction within the vehicle drivetrain. [Figure 2]
