MUMBAI, India, Aug. 17 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202511003788 A) filed by Itc Limited on January 16, 2025, for A System To Detect Quality Of A Plurality Of Grains And A Method Thereof.

Inventors include Kulkarni, Pratham; Tandon, Amogh; and Tantry, Pravin.

The application for the patent was published on August 14, 2026, under issue no. 33/2026.

Abstract: A system (100) to detect quality of a plurality of grains comprises an image capturing unit (102) configured to capture one or more images of the plurality of grains. The image capturing unit (102) comprises an imaging box configured to place the plurality of grains. The imaging box has monochrome walls to provide controlled imaging environment, and a contrasting base acting as background for capturing images of the grains. An image computing unit (104) is configured to process the captured images to obtain grayscale images of the plurality of grains, and segment adjacent grains images in the obtained grayscale images. The image computing unit (104) extracts one or more features from the obtained grayscale images, analyze the extracted features to classify the plurality of grains into one or more pre-defined quality categories, and detect quality of the plurality of grains, based on the classification of the plurality of grains.
