MUMBAI, India, Sept. 22 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202611089917 A) filed by Chitkara University on July 23, 2026, for A System For Vaccine Cold-Chain Digital Twin Using Permissioned Blockchain And Sensor Tags.

Inventors include Dr. Sonia Dhiman; Dr. Shareen Singh; and Dr. Thakur Gurjeet Singh.

The application for the patent was published on September 18, 2026, under issue no. 38/2026.

Abstract: The present invention a vaccine cold-chain logistics system (100) includes a sensor tag (200) having a temperature sensor (210), humidity sensor (211), secure element (220), tamper detector (230), and non-volatile event buffer (240) associated with a vaccine batch or vial group. A gateway device (510) receives signed telemetry, verifies event signatures, and forwards authenticated events to a permissioned blockchain (400). A digital twin (300) stores hash-linked environmental, location, custody-transfer, and vaccine vial monitor records for the batch. A smart contract (600) applies a versioned exposure rule set through a cumulative exposure accumulator (620), excursion severity evaluator (630), and custody-state machine (640). An actuator interface (650) generates a physical release or quarantine output for a container lock (1210) and warning indicator (1220). Event sequence continuity, previous-event hashes, sensor identity, custody scans, and manual inspection records are validated before release, thereby providing tamper-resistant provenance, deterministic classification, offline recovery, and auditable batch-level control throughout vaccine distribution.
