The application for the patent was published on June 12, 2026, under issue no. 24/2026.
Abstract: System (100) and method (200) for thyroid function screening without use of antibodies, enzymes, electrical components, or external analytical instruments includes an disposable strip (102) having a sample inlet (102A) to receive a blood sample; a plasma separation membrane (104) to retain cellular blood components from the received blood sample while allowing passage of cell-free plasma; and a capillary-driven microfluidic network (106) having three reaction chambers (106-1,106-2,106- 3) in fluidic communication with the plasma separation membrane (104) to receive the cell-free plasma. Each reaction chamber (106-1,106-2,106-3) includes a predefined molecularly imprinted polymer hydrogel specific to a respective thyroid hormone. Each molecularly imprinted polymer hydrogel produces a hormone- dependent colorimetric response when reacted with the cell-free plasma to enable a user to access thyroid function including normal thyroid function, hypothyroidism, hyperthyroidism, and subclinical thyroid abnormalities by comparing the hormone-dependent colorimetric response with a visual interpretation guide (108) printed on the disposable strip (102).
