MUMBAI, India, Sept. 22 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202611090752 A) filed by Chitkara University on July 25, 2026, for A System For Terrain Instability Detection And Alerting.
Inventors include Bhisham Sharma; Tapas Sharma; and Anu Sharma.
The application for the patent was published on September 18, 2026, under issue no. 38/2026.
Abstract: The present invention discloses a terrain-instability detection and alerting system (100) for hilly roads. A vibration sensor (101) comprising a seismic accelerometer detects micro tremors and feeds a signal through a signal-conditioning module (115) to a microcontroller unit (102). The microcontroller unit (102) compares the signal with a threshold stored in threshold memory (117), verifies persistence across samples, and corroborates the event using a tilt sensor (113), rain sensor (103), or soil- moisture sensor (114). Upon validation, a trigger mechanism (118) activates a flashing LED light unit (104), an audio siren or hooter (105), and a wireless transmitter (108) communicating an event packet to a monitoring station (122). A solar panel and battery backup assembly (106) supplies power within a waterproof housing unit (107). An event memory buffer (119) preserves pre-trigger and post-trigger data, while a reset or override button (109) permits reset after the terrain signal returns below a reset threshold.
