Abstract: ABSTRACT A SYSTEM FOR SINGLE-DEGREE-OF-FREEDOM MOBILE WELDING ASSISTANCE USING STICK ELECTRODES The present invention relates to a single-degree-of-freedom mobile welding assistance system (10). The system (10) comprises a mobile platform (20), a vertical arm column (40), a rotary cartridge (60), a plurality of drive units (70), a welding machine (80), and a control unit (90). The vertical arm column (40) includes a threaded screw (41), a concentric outer tube member (43), an inner tube member (44), and a tubular bend frame (47). The rotary cartridge (60) comprises a circular plate member (62), a plurality of cylindrical electrode holders (63), a hollow shaft (66), and supports a plurality of stick electrodes (69). The control unit (90) includes pulse width modulation speed governors having control knobs (92) and three-position toggle switches (93) for independently controlling the drive units (70). The rotary cartridge (60) is removably mounted and the vertical arm column (40) provides linear movement through threaded engagement between the threaded screw (41) and the inner tube member (44).
