MUMBAI, India, Sept. 22 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202521021641 A) filed by Tata Passenger Electric Mobility Limited on March 11, 2025, for A System For Protecting A Battery Module And A Method Thereof.
Inventors include Har Govind Singh; Kunal Patil; and Manuel Tholath.
The application for the patent was published on September 18, 2026, under issue no. 38/2026.
Abstract: A SYSTEM FOR PROTECTING A BATTERY MODULE AND A METHOD THEREOF A system (100) for protecting a battery module (1) is disclosed. A plurality of sensors (3, 4, 5, 6, 7) is interfaced with the battery module (1) including a plurality of cells (2). The system (100) includes a control unit (10) communicatively coupled to the plurality of sensors. The control unit (10) is configured to receive one or more signals from the battery module (1). The one or more signals relate to one or more parameters corresponding to each of the plurality of cells (2). The control unit (10) is configured to determine a thermal runaway of one or more cells (2) in the plurality of cells (2), in response to one or more signals corresponding to each of temperature in the battery module, rate of change of voltage across the battery module, and heat generation characteristics associated with each of the plurality of cells (2) in the battery module.
