MUMBAI, India, Sept. 28 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202511060888 A) filed by Surgvis Ar Healthcare Private Limited on June 25, 2025, for A System For Projecting Patient-Specific Anatomical Structures Onto A Surgical Field Using Augmented Reality.
Inventors include Dr. Aakash Kohli; and Dr. Siddhi Chawla.
The application for the patent was published on September 25, 2026, under issue no. 39/2026.
Abstract: The present invention which relates to a system(100) for projecting patient-specific anatomical structures onto a surgical field using augmented reality includes an external computing device(102), registration marker(108), augmented reality device(110),external display screen(120) and a screen integration module(122). The external computing device(102) includes a database(104) and a processor(106). The processor(106) generates the three-dimensional models using the DICOM medical images received from the database(104). The registration marker(108) which is placed on the body of the patient helps in aligning the three-dimensional model onto the patient body. The augmented reality device(110) which is connected to the external computing device(102) includes a camera(112), a processing unit(114) and a display screen(118). The camera(112) aids in registration and model locking. The external display screen(120) is used to display anatomical models during surgery. The system(100) allows location-locked, anatomically aligned visualization of structures during surgery on irregular and curved body surfaces.
