Abstract: A position-sensitive gamma-ray imaging system (100) comprising a monolithic scintillator crystal (104), a silicon photomultiplier (SiPM) array (102), an optical coupling layer, and a signal acquisition circuit is disclosed. The scintillator crystal (104) is configured to generate scintillation photons in response to incident gamma radiation. The SiPM array (102), arranged in a matrix configuration, is positioned adjacent to the scintillator crystal (104) and configured to detect the scintillation photons and generate corresponding electrical signals. The optical coupling layer disposed between the scintillator crystal (104) and the SiPM array (102) comprises a refractive-index-matched optically transparent material configured to enable efficient transmission of scintillation photons. The signal acquisition circuit is configured to receive and process electrical signals corresponding to a spatial distribution of scintillation photons across the SiPM array (102). FIG. 1
