The control unit (106) is configured to regulate the power between the prime mover (102) and the one or more auxiliary power unit (104) in the vehicle (10) based on a determined vehicle mode, when the one or more vehicular components (108) are being operated in an engaged operational state. The determined vehicle mode comprises at least one of a regenerative mode or an assist mode. The present subject matter additionally discloses a method (200) for operating a vehicle (10).
