MUMBAI, India, Aug. 12 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641094387 A) filed by Sri Devaraj Urs Academy Of Higher Education And Research on August 04, 2026, for A System For Integrated Wearable Scissoring Gait Correction And Knee Stability.
Inventors include Reddycharla Reddamma; and Dr. Sarulatha H.
The application for the patent was published on August 07, 2026, under issue no. 32/2026.
Abstract: The present invention discloses an integrated wearable assistive device for simultaneous scissoring gait correction and dynamic knee stabilization in patients with upper motor neuron lesions. The device comprises lightweight modular lower-limb support frames fitted with a scissoring correction module employing adjustable tension straps, micro-ratchet or Velcro fastening mechanisms, and a calibrated tension scale for precise corrective force quantification. A knee buckling prevention module incorporates a dynamic anterior knee support mechanism with a spring-loaded hinge or pneumatic actuator, operatively coupled to a gait phase sensor array that continuously monitors gait cycle transitions to enable phase-specific engagement during the stance phase and disengagement during swing. A safety subsystem provides a mechanical hard-stop and manual override capability. An optional front hand-hold assist bar enhances postural stability during rehabilitation. The device provides improved rehabilitation efficiency, dynamic phase-specific knee stabilization, standardized corrective force application, and portable deployment across clinical and home-based neurorehabilitation environments
