Abstract: The present invention discloses an IoT-based self-sustaining smart power distribution and fault management system integrating piezoelectric footstep energy harvesting with intelligent fault detection and autonomous backup power distribution. The system comprises a piezoelectric sensor array converting pedestrian mechanical energy into electrical energy, conditioned through a bridge rectifier and voltage regulator and stored within a lithium-ion battery bank. An ESP32-based IoT monitoring subsystem continuously acquires voltage, current, continuity, and fire sensor data to detect faults including line breaks, short circuits, and fire incidents. Upon fault detection, a relay-based isolation subsystem automatically isolates affected sections, while stored harvested energy powers critical monitoring, communication, and emergency loads. GPS and GSM modules determine precise fault locations and transmit real- time alerts to maintenance personnel and cloud platforms. The system eliminates dependency on external power and expensive SCADA infrastructure, providing improved reliability, enhanced safety, reduced operational cost, sustainable energy utilization, and uninterrupted smart power distribution.
