MUMBAI, India, Sept. 28 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641110947 A) filed by Krupanidhi Degree College; and Nagashree Bhat on September 16, 2026, for A System For Detachment-Activated Self-Cinching Coconut Fall Arrestor Apparatus.
Inventor includes Nagashree Bhat.
The application for the patent was published on September 25, 2026, under issue no. 39/2026.
Abstract: The present invention discloses a passive detachment-activated self-cinching arrestor apparatus for intercepting falling coconuts near their point of detachment. The apparatus comprises a support assembly mounted on a coconut tree trunk carrying independently replaceable arresting modules, a capture assembly maintaining a coconut-receiving opening without constricting growing fruit, and a mechanical converting assembly using initial downward coconut displacement to contract opposed band portions through one-way guides centring the fruit. A closure-before-payout sequencing interlock prevents brake-drum rotation until cinch-completion stop elements engage the guide carriage completing the interlock-release displacement. A force-limiting brake with spring-preloaded friction band and centrifugal shoes permits controlled arrest-cord payout. A ratchet and holding pawl transfer static load independently of brake friction. A ground-operable recovery assembly enables controlled lowering without electrical power, providing improved public safety, passive operation, non-constricting ready state, mechanically enforced sequential arrest, and ground-level controlled recovery.
