MUMBAI, India, Aug. 24 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202541065175 A) filed by Dharmaraj Panchanathem; and Suganthi V on July 09, 2025, for A System For Collecting Rainwater And Recharging Groundwater.

Inventors include Dharmaraj Panchanathem; and Suganthi V.

The application for the patent was published on August 21, 2026, under issue no. 34/2026.

Abstract: The present invention discloses a system (100) for collecting rainwater and recharging groundwater. The system (100) includes an underground enclosure (102) having a first compartment (104) for receiving rainwater and a second compartment (110) for receiving filtered water. Water from the first compartment (104) passes through a primary filter mesh (116) into an upper compartment (118) and then through a secondary geotextile-carbon filter (122) into a lower compartment (124). Filtered water exits through an outlet (130) and flows through a primary header pipe (132) to a plurality of horizontally distributed air-tube baffles (134). Each air-tube baffle (134) includes a perforated secondary pipe (136), gravel layer (140), geotextile membrane (142) and PVC mesh cover (144). The baffles (134) release filtered water into a topsoil recharge zone (150), thereby supporting water retention, groundwater recharge, soil aeration and reduced runoff.
