Abstract: ABSTRACT The present invention relates to a system and process for manufacturing ash-based sintered sand. The system (100) comprises a raw material storage assembly (102), a mixing assembly (104), a conveying assembly (106), a roller compaction assembly (108) configured to compress a feed mixture into a substantially continuous compacted sheet (110a), and the roller compaction assembly (108) configured to discharge the compacted sheet from the compaction zone (108f) in the form of compacted green lumps (110), a sintering assembly (112) configured to thermally consolidate the compacted green lumps, a crushing assembly (114), and a screening assembly (116) configured to separate engineered ash-based sintered sand (118) and, optionally, lightweight aggregate (120). The manufacturing process comprises storing, metering, mixing, roller compacting to form a substantially continuous compacted sheet, fragmenting the compacted sheet into compacted green lumps, sintering, crushing and screening particulate raw materials to produce engineered ash-based sintered sand having irregular fractured particles. The system may include a recycling conveyor (122), a heat recovery assembly (124), and a control system (126) for continuous industrial operation. The figure associated with abstract is Fig. 1.
