Abstract: The present invention discloses a system and method for product authentication, counterfeit detection, and regulatory compliance using unique encrypted QR codes with multi-tier scan verification. At the time of manufacture, a unique encrypted QR code is generated for each individual product unit and physically embedded thereon, encoding encrypted product-specific data including product name, manufacturing details, MRP, and batch number. Each QR code is additionally associated with a unique serial number stored exclusively in the cloud server database, which unique serial number serves as an identification mark for investigation purposes and cannot be manually keyed in or searched by any person other than the manufacturer or authorised applicant-inventor. A cloud server maintains a QR code database and a scan log database. The system provides three distinct user-tier interfaces: a Retailer Scan and Verification Application installed on registered retailer devices; a Consumer Authentication Interface accessible to consumers via a mobile application or a web-based portal, both accessing the same cloud server authentication system; and a Government Access Portal for regulatory authorities. The cloud server differentiates responses based on the cumulative scan-sequence count for each unique QR code and the tier of the scanning user. Upon a first retailer scan, a successful verification message is transmitted; subsequent retailer scans trigger a prior-scan notification with scan history. Upon a first consumer soon, access via mobile app or web portal, a verification confirmation along with the prior retailer scan history is transmitted, enabling supply chain transparency. Subsequent consumer access events trigger a prior-scan notification with full history. Government portal scans are conducted exclusively through direct camera scanning by a camera-equipped Government Device (4); such scans are silently logged without incrementing the scan counter, thereby enabling unlimited government oversight scans including physical product checks during transport or at stores, without affecting the consumer or retailer verification experience. All scan events are logged with full metadata for fraud investigation. The invention enables governments to cross-verify QR code activation counts against declared production figures for tax compliance verification. The invention is distinguished from the prior art in that it employs no hidden or destructible component (distinguished from Voloshynovskiy et al., US 8,542,871 B2), operates in the field of product authentication and not payment authorization (distinguished from Kane, US 2014/0279499 Al), and does not concern the visual design of QR codes (distinguished from US 9,239,978 B2).
