Abstract: An edge–cloud cooperative system and method for monitoring and controlling an electric-vehicle battery are disclosed. Cell-level and pack-level electrical and thermal measurements are time-aligned and assigned channel-wise quality records. An onboard processor generates spatial cell-deviation, temporal degradation, and battery- model residual features. A hybrid estimator outputs battery-health information, fault likelihood, and associated uncertainty, while a localizer identifies a cell, module, sensing channel, or thermal region associated with an abnormality. A risk engine combines fault likelihood, uncertainty, temporal persistence, measurement quality, spatial corroboration, and proximity to deterministic safety limits. A response controller converts the graded risk into increased sampling, balancing, cooling, power restriction, charging restriction, contactor isolation, or vehicle safe-state control. Deterministic protection remains operative without cloud connectivity. Event- prioritized telemetry supports fleet learning, while authenticated, versioned, compatibility-checked model packages enable staged updating and rollback. The system thereby provides uncertainty-qualified diagnosis and closed-loop physical mitigation during connected and disconnected vehicle operation.
