MUMBAI, India, Oct. 5 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202611101223 A) filed by Graphic Era Deemed To Be University on August 21, 2026, for A System And Method For Verifying Functional Compliance Of Rainwater Harvesting Structures By Rainfall Correlation.

Inventors include Dhruv Aggarwal; and Mohd. Rehan Ghazi.

The application for the patent was published on October 02, 2026, under issue no. 40/2026.

Abstract: The invention relates to monitoring and compliance verification of rainwater harvesting infrastructure. A rainwater harvesting structure (10), such as a recharge pit, percolation well, or soak pit, is equipped with a Sensor Unit (20) having a Water Level Sensor (22), a Percolation Rate Sensor (24), and a Local Controller and Wireless Transmitter (26) that sends timestamped hydraulic data to a Central Verification Server (50). The server receives rainfall data from an Independent Rainfall Source (40), detects rainfall events by start time, duration, intensity, and area relevance, correlates each event with water-level rise and subsequent decline, and analyzes percolation trends across multiple events to verify functional compliance and identify degradation. Compliance results, maintenance alerts, anomaly or fraud flags are stored in a Tamper-Evident Compliance Ledger (60) and presented on a Municipal Compliance Dashboard (70).
