Abstract: ABSTRACT A SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR ULTRA LOW LIGHT DETECTION IN NOISY ENVIRONMENTS The present invention provides a photodiode system designed to optimize low-light detection scenarios, addressing challenges associated with noise in conventional photodiodes. Leveraging Avalanche Photodiodes (APDs), known for their sensitivity to low light, the invention employs a balanced detector configuration to effectively mitigate noise effects. The APDs are operated in tandem in a carefully calibrated balanced mode, enhancing the detection process. To further enhance discriminative capabilities, the system integrates front-end wavelength filters for two distinct spectral interests, preserving the input signal crucial for low-light detection and simultaneously isolating common noise factors. The combination of APDs, balanced operation, and dual wavelength filters ensures superior sensitivity and reliability in low light environments.
