MUMBAI, India, Nov. 2 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202621109818 A) filed by Amrita Arvind Manjrekar on September 13, 2026, for A System And Method For Trusted Multi-Layer And Multi-Tier Cloud-Forensic Provenance Verification.
Inventors include Amrita Arvind Manjrekar; and Swatee Subhash Nikam.
The application for the patent was published on October 30, 2026, under issue no. 44/2026.
Abstract: A cloud-forensic provenance system and method are disclosed for maintaining independently verifiable forensic evidence across multiple cloud execution layers and successive data-handling authorities. A virtualisation-layer forensic acquisition component captures infrastructure-level events associated with execution, placement, or movement of a cloud workload, while a guest/runtime-layer acquisition component captures workload-level events. A trusted association mechanism associates the event streams with a common cloud-workload or data-handling context while preserving their observation-layer identities. The associated records are bound to provider and physical or logical infrastructure-location provenance and transformed into successive cryptographically dependent forensic evidence records. At least part of the evidence is transferred to an external verification component administered outside the originating provider evidence-generation trust domain for independent integrity and sequence-continuity verification. When corresponding cloud data is handled by a downstream cloud authority, a further provenance-linked forensic evidence record is generated and cryptographically associated with a preceding verified forensic evidence state representing the preceding authority. The architecture thereby maintains a verifiable cloud-forensic provenance lineage across cloud infrastructure layers and provider transitions.
