Abstract: ABSTRACT A SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR TRACK CONSTRAINED LOCALIZATION OF A TRAIN MOUNTED ACCESS POINT (AP) USING MONOSTATIC INTEGRATED SENSING AND COMMUNICATION (ISAC) ECHOES AND UNIFORM PLANAR ARRAY (UPA) SUBSPACE PROCESSING The present invention provides a system and method for track-constrained localization of a train-mounted access point in an integrated sensing and communication system are disclosed. A stationary monostatic transceiver equipped with a uniform planar array transmits a common orthogonal frequency division multiplexing integrated sensing and communication waveform and receives monostatic sensing echoes from the train-mounted access point. Railway track constrained unitary estimation of signal parameters via rotational invariance technique extracts uniform planar array signal subspace information through forward-backward averaging and unitary transformation. The railway track is represented as a three-dimensional parametric path with scalar coordinate s. Expected spatial phase factors are computed for each track coordinate and compared with measured uniform planar array spatial responses via dual-axis mismatch residuals combined as a combined spatial mismatch residual. The track coordinate is estimated by minimizing the combined spatial mismatch residual and mapped to the three-dimensional access point position. The system achieves approximately 2.2 cm position root mean square error at 10 dB signal-to-noise ratio and 380 km/h, enabling location-assisted beam alignment and predictive beamforming in future railway mobile communication systems.
