MUMBAI, India, Aug. 31 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202611083439 A) filed by Graphic Era Hill University, Dehradun on July 07, 2026, for A System And Method For Thermal Monitoring And Mobile Alert Generation In Lighting Devices For Overheating And Fire Hazard Prevention.

Inventors include Vedant Saxena; and Manika Manwal.

The application for the patent was published on August 28, 2026, under issue no. 35/2026.

Abstract: The invention relates to thermal safety monitoring in lighting devices. A system integrated within a lighting device housing comprises a thermal sensing unit, a microcontroller unit, a wireless communication module, a power management circuit, and a mobile application interface, arranged as an embedded subsystem proximate to a driver circuit or ballast section. The thermal sensing unit, including an NTC thermistor or infrared temperature sensor, generates a temperature-related signal corresponding to localized internal temperature. The microcontroller unit derives a temperature value, applies calibration, filtering, hysteresis, persistence and confirmation sampling, compares the value with stored threshold values, and classifies operation into Normal, Warning, or Critical states, including thresholds below 85°C, at or above 85°C, and at or above 95°C. Status information is wirelessly transmitted to the mobile application interface for color-coded alert display, and, upon a Critical state, an emergency control command may interrupt power, reduce drive current, or invoke protected mode.
