MUMBAI, India, June 24 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202411091808 A) filed by Bandi, Sreenivas on November 25, 2024, for A System And Method For Supplemental Charging Of An Electric Vehicle (ev).
Inventors include Bandi, Sreenivas; and M, Naveenkumar.
The application for the patent was published on June 12, 2026, under issue no. 24/2026.
Abstract: Embodiments of the present disclosure relate to a system (100) and a method (300) for supplemental charging of an Electric Vehicle (EV). The system (100) includes an internal charging port (102). The internal charging port (102) is configured to provide on-demand supplementary power to extend a driving range of the EV (104) independent of an external charging station. The internal charging port (102) offers flexibility for emergency or extended-range scenarios by enabling supplemental charging without relying solely on external infrastructure. Managed by a PCU (202), the system (100) prioritizes external charging sources when available and seamlessly switches to internal power as needed. A control switch (206) acts as a controller to prevent unintended power draw from the portable battery connected to internal charging port (102) or battery drain from the EV (104). The system (100) optimizes range, operational uptime, and emergency readiness for EVs.
