Inventors include Dr. Dhananjay Singh; Dr. Balendu S. Giri; Dr. Vinay Mishra; Dr. Sunita Singh; Dr. Deepak Singh; Miss Jyoti Kushwaha; Mr. Hanuman Maurya; and Dr. Mukul Sengar.
The application for the patent was published on September 25, 2026, under issue no. 39/2026.
Abstract: The invention relates to solar desalination and water purification, and provides a hybrid double-slope solar still thermally coupled with an induced type solar dryer to recover dryer exhaust heat. Heated exhaust air from the dryer is conveyed through an insulated connecting pipe, optionally through a solar panel powered positive- temperature-coefficient heater, and into a basin-integrated serpentine copper tube heat exchanger, whereby the exhaust air remains separated from basin water while transferring heat through the tube wall. In combination with direct solar radiation received by the double-slope solar still, the recovered heat raises basin-water temperature, enhances evaporation, and promotes condensation on inner sloping transparent cover surfaces for collection as distilled water. The invention advances existing solar stills by utilising otherwise wasted dryer heat to improve distillate yield and thermal efficiency with a compact integrated arrangement.
