MUMBAI, India, July 24 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202541065155 A) filed by Grafito Innovations Private Limited on July 09, 2025, for A System And Method For Simulation-Assisted Automated Plant Grafting.
Inventors include Abel C Dixon; Hariram J; Aswan A S; and Hareesh P Venu.
The application for the patent was published on July 17, 2026, under issue no. 29/2026.
Abstract: The present disclosure provides an automated vegetable grafting system (100) comprising independently movable programmable frames (104, 106), a chain rail transfer system (134) having plant holding structures (136), scion and rootstock gripping units (124, 126), a cutting unit (116), a clip dispensing unit (120), a clipping unit (118), a perception unit (122), an adjustable transparent support surface (128), an edge computing module (144), and a control unit (150). Seedlings (125, 127) are loaded from trays (141, 143) using a pick-and-place unit (142) or manually loaded into the plant holding structures (136). The control unit (150) uses image data, segmentation coordinates, fiducial markers (130), and encoder feedback (132) to align cut surfaces and apply a grafting clip (121). A digital twin model (176) may be updated for simulation, monitoring, and quality analysis.
