Abstract: A SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR SENSOR-INTEGRATED LABORATORY SAFETY COAT WITH CHEMICAL AND BIOMETRIC MONITORING The invention relates to wearable laboratory safety equipment, and particularly to a laboratory coat integrating chemical exposure sensing and biometric monitoring. A 65/35 polyester-cotton twill base garment carries chemical sensor panels at right forearm, left forearm, and chest zones, the panels being formed on flexible polyimide substrate with conductive silver-paste traces and including pH-responsive chromogenic sensor strips and an electrochemical sensor patch. A biometric monitoring subsystem with flexible thermistor array and PPG optical sensor is arranged at collar and optional wrist cuff inner linings. Conductive routing through interior seams connects the sensors to an analog-to-digital converter board and an ESP32-based microcontroller module in a removable interior pocket panel. The module samples at 1 Hz, applies a 5-second moving average, classifies Acid, Alkali, VOC, or Unknown events, logs exposure data, and issues RGB LED, Bluetooth Low Energy, and Wi-Fi alerts, thereby providing improved real-time hazard detection and centralized laboratory safety response.
