Abstract: The present invention provides a system and a method for secure distributed validation of One-Time Passwords (OTP) via the use of intelligent terminal synchronization. It consists of an authentication server, synchronized intelligent terminals and a distributed verification engine designed to verify OTP requests in decentralized authentication nodes. Distributed OTP authentication and synchronization of timestamps, cryptographic keys and validation parameters are provided by encrypted communication protocols on intelligent terminals. The invention provides for more reliable authentication, less dependency on the server, greater fault tolerance, and greater protection against replay attacks and OTP interception. The invention is useful for digital banking, cloud authentication, enterprise security systems, and distributed digital identity infrastructures.
