Abstract: The present invention relates to a controlled-environment plant regulation system and method for enhancing nutrient acquisition in plants. The system comprises a spectrally tunable illumination unit configured to emit at least a blue wavelength band, a programmable control system configured to regulate light parameters including wavelength, intensity and photoperiod, and a spatial light differentiation arrangement configured to provide differential light exposure between aerial and root portions of plants. The system is configured such that selective exposure of aerial plant portions to blue-light illumination induces a systemic response in the plant, which is transmitted to root portions via endogenous plant transport mechanisms, thereby enhancing root-level nutrient mobilization and uptake. The method comprises selectively exposing aerial plant portions to controlled blue-light illumination, restricting or modifying root exposure through spatial separation, dynamically controlling illumination parameters using a programmable system, inducing a systemic plant response, and enhancing root nutrient acquisition activity. The invention is applicable to controlled-environment agriculture systems and provides a non-chemical, reversible and programmable approach for improving plant nutrient acquisition.
