Abstract: A system and method manage a physical asset by fusing observations from a plurality of dissimilar data sources of differing and dynamically-varying reliability — including IoT sensors, RFID, BLE, GPS, QR scans, ERP records and technician input — into a single state estimate within a digital twin. A reliability-weighted fusion engine maintains a dynamic reliability weight per source, computes the state estimate as a reliability- and recency-weighted combination of the sources currently present, and computes a state confidence that degrades monotonically toward a defined floor as sources become absent or stale, so that the system delivers value under partial instrumentation rather than failing. A lifecycle-decision engine converts the confidence-qualified state into a ranked action — allocation, condition-based maintenance or retirement — gated on a minimum confidence. An outcome-feedback subsystem captures the confirmed outcome of each action and updates both the per-source reliability weights and the decision policy, so the system learns which sources are trustworthy for which failure modes. An edge-cloud arrangement performs source-availability-aware fusion to reduce communication and compute load. FIG. 1.
