MUMBAI, India, Oct. 5 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202541060756 A) filed by Manipal Academy Of Higher Education on August 08, 2025, for A System And Method For Prioritising Antibiotic Selection Based On A Breakpoint-To-Mic Quotient.

Inventor includes Nivedha Srinivasan.

The application for the patent was published on October 02, 2026, under issue no. 40/2026.

Abstract: A system (100) for prioritising antibiotic selection based on a breakpoint-to-MIC quotient comprises a processor (201) configured to receive a user input identifying a pathogen from a plurality of pathogens of an antibiotic dataset (401), and identify, from the antibiotic dataset (401) stored in a memory (203), a subset of antibiotics associated with the identified pathogen. The processor (201) computes, for each antibiotic of the subset, a breakpoint-to-MIC quotient (403) by dividing a breakpoint value by a corresponding minimum inhibitory concentration value, and validates each quotient, via a validation gate (405), prior to ranking, by excluding any antibiotic having an invalid minimum inhibitory concentration value, a minimum inhibitory concentration value exceeding the breakpoint value, or a null breakpoint value. The processor (201) ranks the validated quotients to generate a ranked list (407), and displays the ranked list (407) with the top-ranked antibiotic (409) visually distinguished from the remaining antibiotics.
