MUMBAI, India, Oct. 5 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641093295 A) filed by Manipal Academy Of Higher Education on July 31, 2026, for A System And Method For Predicting Nodal Status In Oral Squamous Cell Carcinoma.

Inventors include Vasantha Mn; K Devaraja; Satyanarayana; Meena Kumari K; and Sumith N.

The application for the patent was published on October 02, 2026, under issue no. 40/2026.

Abstract: The present invention discloses a clinical decision support system (100) and a computer-implemented method for predicting nodal status in oral squamous cell carcinoma. The system integrates four patient-specific clinical and hematological variables, namely age, T-stage, histologic grade, and neutrophil-lymphocyte ratio, into a logistic regression-based analytical engine (203), operatively coupled to a data input interface (201), to compute nodal positivity probability. The system further comprises a predictive nomogram module (205) for graphical risk visualization, a validation module (207) performing receiver operating characteristic, calibration, and decision curve analyses, and an output dashboard (209) delivering predicted nodal status, risk probability, risk tier, and points score. The integrated model achieves an area under the curve of about 0.614, with end-to-end latency of about 100 milliseconds and throughput of about 200 records per minute, enabling real-time preoperative risk stratification in oral cancer patients.
