The microplastic detection module (122) includes a laser diode (124), a photodiode or optical sensor (126), and a transparent optical chamber (128) for optical scattering-based detection. The processing unit (110) processes water quality data and optical signals to generate contamination status. The system (100) further includes a data logging module (130), display module (132), alert module (134), wireless communication module (136), and remote monitoring interface (138).
