Abstract: ABSTRACT A SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR PORTABLE HANDHELD FABRIC INSPECTION AND WEAVE CLASSIFICATION The instant invention pertains to a system and methodology for mobile fabric inspection and weave identification. The system features a handheld apparatus incorporating a calibrated imaging sensor, a cross-window aperture alignment frame, an illumination sub-system, an integrated processor, and a monitor display. The apparatus acquires magnified imagery of a fabric surface under controlled parameters and processes it in real-time. Pre-processing is carried out before detecting yarn periodicity via frequency domain autocorrelation, calculating the number of warp and weft yarns, and extracting various fabric metrics such as the Yarn Interlacement Density Factor (YIDF), Crimp Symmetry Index (CSI), Structural Coherence, Motif Factor (MF), Diagonal Energy (DiagE), and Peak Two-Dimensional Autocorrelation (PeakACF). A binary interlacement matrix is created as a representative model of the fabric structure. The multi-metric classifier recognizes the weave configuration alongside a reliability index and identifies structural abnormalities. Fig. 3
