Abstract: The present invention provides a system and method for patient fluid monitoring. The system comprises a sensing unit configured to determine a value of a parameter of a fluid bag connected to a patient, an interface configured to receive a value of a parameter of the patient, and a processing unit communicatively coupled to the interface to receive and process the value of the parameter of the patient to derive a threshold. The processing unit is communicatively coupled to the sensing unit to receive and compare the determined value of the parameter of the fluid bag with the derived threshold. The processing unit is further configured to provide a notification through the interface based on the comparison. It is an objective of the invention to provide an intelligent and patient-adaptive fluid bag monitoring system and method that ensures timely, accurate, and clinically meaningful alerts for both infusion and drainage bags.
