Abstract: ABSTRACT “A SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR OFFLINE REVERSE GEOCODING OF GEOGRAPHIC COORDINATES” The present invention provides a system (100) for offline reverse geocoding of geographic coordinates, comprising at least one processor (102) and a memory (104) storing a first precomputed administrative index and a second precomputed administrative index as process-resident hash-maps keyed by cell identifiers of a hexagonal hierarchical discrete global grid at a first resolution level and a coarser second resolution level respectively. A lookup engine executed by said processor (102) projects an input coordinate pair, received from a satellite-based positioning receiver (400), to a primary cell identifier, performs a constant-time hash-map lookup in the first index and, upon failure, computes a parent cell identifier and performs a second lookup in the second index, returning an administrative record or a null value. Each lookup completes in constant time without any network, file or database dependency. Figure 3 on sheet no. 3 of the drawings may accompany the abstract when published
